 Despite Barralet being of Irish descendants, he is acutely dispensing the significance of being an American through this painting. Within America Guided by Wisdom, it is coherent and visible that America sustained a great amount of torment through 1812-1815. From this painting, being an American signifies to see the light of every tunnel. Moreover, having hope and resilience as our country is guided by wisdom and acumen. 

  •  The artist behind this masterpiece, Jhon Barralet, desired to distribute a certain significance through his message, to show the effects of the War of 1812. Furthermore, Barralet longed to display how the country persevered following the War of 1812. America Guided by Wisdom, exhibits many symbolic messages in which the viewer must piece together to form an understanding of the memorandum. Notwithstanding, the painting captures the light and anticipation of the time. The symbolism distributed within the image employs that America is always overlooked by conservation and wisdom.

  • The ethos Jhon Barralet allocates with in the panting America Guided by Wisdom, manifests the true hope and faith Americans underwent during 1815. Barralet, was attempting to portray the triumph an abundance of white Americans endured subsequenting the War of 1812. Moreover, considering that this painting was directed towards the working and middle class, there were added transcriptions underneath the image.
